A Chicago native, Stacey McClain found early success, working for 10 years as a stand-up comedienne, performing all over the country, doing shows such as, “Showtime at the Apollo,”“Soul Train,” and opening up for acts such as “Martin Lawrence” & gracing the same stages as “Robin Harris” and “George Lopez.” Her adventures in comedy eventually led her to her true calling – writing and producing for television, film the stage, as well as the Internet.

Her first stage play “Culture Shock,” (which she also wrote, produced and directed), earned her several NAACP Theater Award nominations and led her to be the winner of the prestigiousLos Angeles Ira Aldridge Playwrights Awardwinning the top prize over 400 other playwrights.  McClain’s theater pieces were also instrumental in helping her to meet executives & Showrunners who introduced her to writing for television.  She began her television career working as a writer’s assistant on the “Jamie Foxx Show,” “The Smart Guy”and on “The Parkers.” However, it was on “The Parkers” where McClain first wrote on staff, under Executive Producer Sara Finney – Johnson, and Ralph Farquhar. After leaving “The Parkers,”she helped develop a pilot for Disney Channel, starring “KeKe Palmer” and thereafter, worked as a writer/producer on several productions, including “The World’s Funniest Moments”, “Black Men Revealed,” “The Tom Joyner Show,” BET’s “Reed Between the Lines.” McClain also created, produced, & directed her own web series entitled “Sistaah Friend,” a magical purse toting shero, who wants everyone to be friends.
